Nephew Needs Prayer

As some of you may know our nephew had a lung collapse on the weekend. They inserted a tube into his chest wall to take the air out so the lung could re-inflate. He was then sent home. On Monday morning he returned to the hospital to be evaluated. His lung was previously 20% collapsed. On the evalution he was found to have a 50% collapse. He was admitted to the hospital. He underwent a simple proceedure of having a machine hooked up to the tube coming from his chest and it sucked the air out. Now they are waiting until later today or Wednesday to see if the lung will remain inflated. If not then he will have to undergo surgery to repair the lung.

Your continued prayers would be appreciated until this event has run its course.

Don’t want to keep silent like I never heard you. I will pray for him. Keep us posted.

I’m praying too. Ruths friends son had the same operation and he is doing fine now. She said this happens to tall males under 30 years old.

UPDATE: Late last night the doctors decided to go ahead and perform surgery. He was placed in the queue and was to be the third to undergo surgery in the morning schedule. By now he probably has had the surgery yet we haven’t heard from his mother as yet how it went.

UPDATE: Just heard from my nephew that the operation did not take place as scheduled. There was an emergency and the surgical team was busy with another case. They will try to schedule the operation for tomorrow morning.

    Any news?

Just one of those nights where you just can’t sleep. Been to bed twice and got up twice. Sigh.

UPDATE: My nephew has finally got his operation done around 8:00pm their time on Thursday. The operation went well and his time in recovery was shorter than expected. He will be going home in a couple of days. He still needs prayer of course. A quick recovery is what is needed. He is going to university and his exams are soon. He really needs to keep his grade point average high. Your continuing prayers are appreciated.

    Hey Joe,
I’m praying too!! Just wondering what surgery he had done?? I pray his recovery time will be quick!

Still praying. Glad to hear things went well.

  9. UPDATE: He is doing well and is restless. They had to take a piece of his lung. There is still a small tear but they are not concerned about it. It will be a while before he can resume his studies. Pray for a quick and complete recovery. Also pray for his mother who is getting a bit tired.

I remember the haggard look of Linda when I was in the hospital for almost two weeks. Trying to work and trying to visit everday took its toll. Her sister is just as tired over this current episode. She needs strength and refreshing.

Again, thanks for your continuing prayers.

  10. UPDATE: This is the last update. He is returning to school. He isn’t fully up to strength but is doing well. He is studying as hard as he can to catch up with what he missed while in the hospital. There is a bit of stress in this because his exams are soon. One prayer, that he can catch up, would be appreciated.

With that done I would like to thank everyone who took the time to pray for my nephew.
