From Russia with Love

There are Russians out there that have a passion for my site. They are always commenting on how cool my blog name and address are. They wish they could add my site to their rss readers. They love my site so much that they say the same thing several times a day.

Wait a minute…

These comments are the same…

Ah ha! They have the exact same IP. Different names… Different emails… Same IP!

Rats… it’s not an open door to evangelising the land of Gog and Magog. It is simply SPAM from one source.

Time to block the IP. Guess what? They will be back in less than a week with a slightly different IP. Professing their love for my site once again. I just wish they weren’t that persistent.

😥

Gog and Magog could be any nation in rebellion against the Lord: not just Russia. Why, even Canada and the US of A are in rebellion ! Evangelization—-every nation needs it—-there’s infidels everywhere !

I guess everybody has to make a living. How do they profit from this?

  3. Dougie…

The first and only way they profit is if someone who is visiting my site sees the link they left behind and clicks on it. They are taken to a web page where someone is trying to sell some product. With this particlular russian he is selling drugs: viagra, oxycontin, percosets(?), etc. If even one in a thousand buys a product it is worth their effort.

The second reason for placing a link on my site is that when someone does a search on google for a drug it is more likely that this persons drug sale site will place higher. It is an old trick and many times does not work… but they try anyways.

How does it work. They have a direct IP for just themselves. Then they create pages with all kinds of different addresses. Click on any of these links and you are directed to this guys IP. Normally these get blocked within a few days. So he gets another IP address. Uploads all his old pages. Then the process is started over again.

This is no different than automatic phone dialers making random calls to people. I don’t know how many times (80, 90. 100?) I received a call saying this is my second and last chance to buy a car warranty.
