Late Night Visitor

Since we had our windows replaced recently, except for the basement, Linda said that it is now quite a bit cooler down there. I didn’t find it to be any cooler at all. That is until this afternoon when I went downstairs to bring those Christmas ornaments boxes back to the basement. “My oh my,” I thought, “Linda is right, it is quite a bit cooler down here. In fact, it’s pretty cold. Ah well, perhaps I better do something about it someday.”

Well, it turns out I had to do something immediately. One of the side windows was open and the insulation was on the floor. I walked over and the catch was busted. Someone kicked open the window last night and I didn’t hear a thing. That seems to happen everytime an intruder breaks in. Sigh!

Well, grabbed a couple of three inch nails and closed the window permanently. Hmmm… maybe I should get the basement windows replaced as well. I checked the house and fortunately nothing was out of place and nothing was taken as far as I could tell. I remember being promted to pray that God protect our house from intruders as I was going up the stairs for the night. He kept them outside.

There is only one jolly fellow in a red suit that I want to get into the house this Christmas Eve. I won’t pray to keep him out. As for the rest, keep them away Lord, keep them away. Amen!

Wow, that’s scary. Glad you didn’t even hear them, and that nothing is gone.

And don’t worry – Santa doesn’t need a basement window.

    Thanks God for protection!

You may consider some bars on the basement windows as well Joe. If you use different screw heads that makes it more difficult and slows them down. Those Alarm Force systems are also good. Free installation and $ 25 per month for monitoring. Some things to consider on top of the praying!

or you could consider our alarm system – a 100 lb. German Shepard.
You get quite a few false alarms but all the love & affection she provides more than makes up for it.

Hmm… buy a 100lb german shepherd that is wired to alarm force. One bark and they send a team over to investigate. And, I don’t have to know a thing about it.

Thus is the combined consensus of the last three posts. I like it but I doubt it would be availlable for $25 a month.

That’s what the guy on the radio says ( $25/month and no installation charge) , and he’s the president. Worth looking into. I like bob’s idea. German shepherd is the way to go, plus bars on the basement windows. If I remember correctly, the dog is also about $25/month for food, about $200/year for shots and cross your fingers and hope they don’t gey sick or injured.

    Do German Shepherds shed?

I wouldn’t want to add dog hair to my list of things to clean up in the house.

    🙂

Patti… YES! They shed big time. The only dog I’m aware of that does not shed is the poodle and some cross breeds of the poodle. Even the boxers I had, which are short haired, still shedded. If you own a dog that sheds you will need lots of bags for your vacuum. Regular grooming is a must. The kind of dog you get should suit your lifestyle. It’s not fair to own an active type dog and leave it tied up all the time. They need lots of excersize. An inactive dog like a bull dog cannot handle allot of fast paced excersize. I owned a standard poodle, that’s the big one and they loved to excersize and he didn’t shed, but they need regular grooming because their hair never stops growing. It’s kind of neat to have a dog that weighs 70lbs look like it weighs 200lbs!

I used to be a professional groomer. I owned a business called ” Dashing Dogs Dog Grooming.” My shop was on Hester street on the mountain off of Upper James. That was about 12 years ago. I don’t know where the time goes.
